Hello EKC,

The HFHI is sponsoring a GREEN Conference in several regions in the U.S. Our area conference will be in Vancouver June 21st and 22nd. Ed Brown from HFHI has received a small grant from King County to sponsor King County residents to attend this conference. This scholarship would include 2 night hotel and the $75 admission fee. Ed indicated he has enough money for 4 or 5 people to go but he is offering this to others within the county. Please click on the links below to learn more. If you are interested let me know A.S.A.P. to sooner we sign up the better chance we have in getting all 4 or 5 spots.

Andy, this could include an Americorps or 2.

Subject: Plan for Green Steps now!

Greetings,

Our exciting Habitat-sponsored conference, Green Steps, is scheduled for June 21-22, on the campus of Clark College in Vancouver, WA. This regional conference has been specifically designed to help affiliates identify and embrace their next best “green steps,” wherever they may be on the green continuum. The building scientists, construction experts, and organizational consultants we have brought together will help your affiliate be even more effective in planning, construction, and follow-through with your current and future projects. I encourage everyone, regardless of your expertise, to take part in Green Steps. Registration is now open at www.certain.com/system/web/235715.

In the intervening weeks, I am available to help you evaluate your current construction methodologies and identify the workshops best suited to your affiliate’s goals. As time permits, I will be scheduling visits to affiliates to perform on-site testing, ask and answer questions, and offer council in next “green” steps for improving current and future community housing solutions. Think of it an interactive “movie trailer” before the movie. If a pre-Green Steps meeting makes sense for you, please respond by April 15th.

This continues to be an exciting time in our industry, with code changes and funding requirements changing as quickly as strategies and available products. The Northwest has long been a leading force in sustainable living, including the design and construction of high performance homes. We are certain that your staff and volunteers will be able to utilize the curriculum and networking opportunities being made available at Green Steps to stay ahead of the national curve, and continue to deliver homes honor our mission and our partner families.

Green Steps is now offering Oregon contractors the opportunity to earn up to 9 hours of required CCB elective continuing education credits.

Thank you,
